Julie Bowman

Julie trained in Ballet, Tap and Modern from a young age, After studying A Level Dance at Dame Allan’s, she moved to London to train at the Royal Academy of Dance.
In 2009 Julie graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Ballet Education. Julie returned to the North East to complete her Graduate Teacher Programme at Northumbria University alongside teaching, gaining Qualified Teacher Status.
In 2011, Julie became the Head of Dance at Central Newcastle High School (now Newcastle High School for Girls) where she developed a thriving and successful department. Julie designed and delivered the curriculum and extra-curricular Dance programmes throughout the school from Nursery to A Level.
During her time as Head of Department, 99% of the GCSE and A Level Dance grades were awarded A*-B and several of Julie’s former students have gone on to have successful careers in Dance.
Alongside teaching in a school setting, Julie has taught at the Jill Errington School of Dance and Drama since 2010 and has been a Key Stage 5 Dance examiner. Julie also has a long-standing association with The People’s Theatre Arts Group and has choreographed several productions at The People’s Theatre including musicals, plays and the annual pantomime.

Grace Burns

Grace has been dancing since she was four years old at the Maureen Slater School of dance. She was a pupil of Laura’s at John Spence Community High School where she studied GCSE Performing Arts specialising in Dance. Whilst at school, Grace was a member of the North Tyneside Schools Youth Dance Group for three years, performing at various school dance festivals (Laura was the choreographer).
After leaving school, she progressed onto Newcastle College where she gained a National Diploma in Performing Arts and in July 2013 she graduated from Sunderland University with a 2:1 BA in Dance Degree. Alongside her academic studies, Grace is a highly competent choreographer, specialising in creative dance. She also works closely with Laura as her mentor.
