CHOREOGRAPHY

As a school all we needed to do was identify and approach the pupils and the rest of the arrangements and paperwork was done for us, a simple and professional approach towards the organisational of the day…A thoroughly engaging, entertaining and professional day was had by all.

The feeder school G&T Dance day allowed some of our older, more talented students to begin to look at the choreography side of Dance rather than performance. As a school all we needed to do was identify and approach the pupils and the rest of the arrangements and paperwork was done for us, a simple and professional approach towards the organisational of the day.

As a school heavily involved in transition with our local feeder schools, it was yet another activity and link that the girls formed with some of the more able and enthusiastic dancers that would be coming to John Spence in the near future. Our pupils could talk about their experiences at John Spence and what was on offer in terms of Dance to excite and motivate them to join activities come September.

The mixture of pupils of the feeder schools again allowed friendships to be made and familiar faces seen, before the step up into the secondary setting. A tremendous selection of photos and videos shared after the day showed the real progress in terms of the pupil’s confidence, skills and cohesion and also demonstrated some of the excellent work of the professionals and ideas from the dance leaders.
Adam Pilkington PE Teacher at John Spence Community High School

All the children were so enthusiastic and proud of themselves and their confidence and dance performance skills greatly improved.

This is the first time we have had a Gifted and Talented Dance Collaborative Workshop and we would definitely do it again. Cheryl choreographed a fantastic dance for the children who attended and it was lovely to see children from different schools working together. All the children were so enthusiastic and proud of themselves and their confidence and dance performance skills greatly improved.

Laura made learning vivid, and real.  The dance incorporated a balanced mix of breadth, depth and pace. She developed understanding of dance through enquiry, creativity and trust, working with another school highlighted this…In the lives of our children Laura created much more than a dance!

This is the first time St Cuthbert’s RC Primary has worked in collaboration with another school for the North Shields dance Festival, something we would love to do again. Our children experienced challenge and had fun.

Laura Prince was excellent in bringing our two schools together in partnership with an ambitious dance designed around the higher needs and aspirations of the children to create a personalised dance to ensure that all children fulfilled their potential. Laura made learning vivid, and real.

The dance incorporated a balanced mix of breadth, depth and pace. She developed understanding of dance through enquiry, creativity and trust, working with another school highlighted this. She encouraged children to become partners in their learning, but more importantly they finished the day having made new friendships and left not only excited for the dance festival but for Secondary school to meet up again.

In the lives of our children Laura created much more than a dance!
Kerry Cottiss, Assistant Headteacher, St Cuthbert’s RC Primary

Fantastic choreography for our school for the local dance festival.

Laura did a fabulous job planning and producing some fantastic choreography for our school for the local dance festival. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a great relationship with Laura.

THEMED CREATIVE DANCE WORKSHOPS

She gave me the confidence to put together my own dance the next year using what she had shown me and left with clear instructions on how we put the dance together with the music.

Laura worked with me and a group of year 3 and year 4 children in my school to choreograph a dance for the dance festival. As I am not a dancer Laura helped and supported me to create a simple and very effective sequence of moves.  With Laura’s expertise we linked a variety of moves to create a patterns and movement that the children learned and enjoyed performing.
Hilary Rapley Teacher, South Wellfield First School
